Funeral services for Douglas W. Sorenson will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at United Methodist Church in Ruthven. The Revs. Diana Pollard, Doug Dingel and Roger Maize will officiate.

Interment will be in Meadow Township Cemetery in Langdon.

Douglas Wayne Sorenson, son of Everett and Elaine (Milton) Sorenson, was born July 7, 1944, in Spencer. He began school near Langdon and later attended Okoboji and Lake Center Schools graduating in 1962.

Following graduation, Doug continued his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. He was active in farming during his time in college returning weekends to farm.

On June 12, 1964, Doug was united in marriage to Patricia Eldridge at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven.

Doug continued farming his entire life. He did grain farming as well as raising hogs and cattle.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Langdon.

Doug passed away Friday, July 2, 2010, near Dickens at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marion and Wilma Eldridge.

He is survived by his wife, Patt of Dickens; his children, Kae Heideman of Rembrandt, Jeff and Emily Sorenson of Spencer, Kyle Sorenson of Lake Field, Minn., and Jon and Kari Sorenson of Graettinger; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Elaine Sorenson of Spencer; two brothers, Ervin Sorenson (Karen) of Dickens, and Dan Sorenson (Allison) of Dickens; a sister, Janet Johnson (Bruce) of Mankato, Minn.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave and Lavonne Eldridge of Graettinger; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; as well as countless friends.

Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
