Funeral services for Marguerite E. Myers, wife of Jim Myers, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at the Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Interment and luncheon to follow.
Marguerite Eloise Myers, daughter of Colby Benjamin and Daisy Albertina Lowe, was born on April 20, 1921, on a farm near Mallard, Iowa. At age 17 her family moved to Emmetsburg.
During WWII she married a soldier and had a daughter, Sherrie and a son, Terry. Terry died in infancy.
At age 39, she met and married Jim Myers. To this union a son, Colby was born. Four years later they moved to an acreage three miles south of Emmetsburg.
In 1967 they joined the United Methodist Church where Marguerite taught Sunday school and became a delegate to the Iowa Methodist Conference. She also performed devotional prayer services at Emmetsburg Care Center on Wednesdays for 11 years. Marguerite served in christian organizations like "Aglow" and others where she made many friends.
In November 1986 they moved to Fairfield, Calif., staying 8-1/2 years. While there she worked in a mall and befriended many women and men.
They moved to Spencer in June 1995 where residing until the present time.
In December 2007 Marguerite was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
She passed away at Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer at the age of 89.
