Funeral services for Mr. Dennis Riepma, 66, of Spencer, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Rev. Russell Muilenburg will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the memorial services at the church.

Military services will be conducted by Glen Pedersen Post No. 1 - American Legion of Spencer, following the graveside services.

Mr. Riepma passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Dennis Bruce Riepma, the son of Wilson and Til (Harmsen) Riepma, was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Long Beach, Calif. His family moved from California to Iowa at an early age, where he received his education at Sheldon Christian School. He later graduated from Sheldon High School. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for three years on the USS Bon Homme Richard during the Vietnam era.

Denny married Ellen VerMeer on June 25, 1971, in Boyden, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Chariton, Iowa, for three years, until 1974, when they moved to Spencer. Throughout the years, he worked in the pest control business, eventually owning and operating Denny's Pest Control for several years in the northwest Iowa area. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Spencer; two daughters: Katrina and her husband, Jacob Wingers of O'Fallon, Mo., and Megan Riepma of Colorado Springs, Mo.; two brothers: Bob and Jan Riepma of Clear Lake, and Ted and Peg Riepma of Sheldon; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
