Saylor Ennis, of Sisters, Ore., passed away on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2010, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Ore.
Saylor (Sy) celebrated his 100th birthday March 2, 2010, with 30 family members from seven states joining him for his special day, including five generations.
He was born in Cherokee County March 2, 1910, and moved to O'Brien County with his family in 1927. Saylor married Luella Puck March 5, 1930, in Spencer. The couple celebrated 75 years of marriage March 5, 2005. Luella passed away May 4, 2005.
In 1961, Sy and Lue moved from Everly to southern California, where they owned and operated an Orange Julius franchise. After retirement, they moved to Sisters, Ore., in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella; daughter, Janice Ennis Grider; his parents; four brothers; one sister.
Left to cherish his memory are sons: Darwin, Frankston, Texas, Duane, Portland, Ore., Del and wife Brynn, Sisters, Ore.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five nephews and four nieces; including Sandeanne Vetter of Hartley.
A memorial service for Saylor and Luella will be held in early fall at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley.
