Gerald (Jerry) D. Mundt, 73, of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2010, at Hope Hospice Home in Fort Myers.
He was born July 16, 1936, in Spencer, the son of Walter H. and Alice M. (Peters) Mundt. Jerry spent his childhood years in Everly. He was an alumni of Iowa State University and Northwestern University. Jerry worked 34 years at Combined Insurance Company of America, until his retirement as vice president of finance in 1996.
Jerry enjoyed life and his many friends. He was active with the Chicago Uptown and Sanibel/Captiva Lions Clubs and the Sanibel/Captiva Power Squadron. He also enjoyed golfing and biking.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Elaine; two children, JoAnn (Mundt) Birkholz and Scott Mundt; two stepchildren, Scott Tarwater and Erin Clark; and six grandchildren: Sarah and Eric Birkholz, Justin and Colton Mundt, Cooper and Sawyer Clark.
