Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Louise "Sally" Barman, 98, of Spencer, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April19, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Paul Kaldahl will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place in North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.

Mrs. Barman passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Ella Louise Barman, the daughter of Bernhardt and Bertha (Centner) Philiph, was born Dec. 2, 1911, on the family farm in Westport Township, Dickinson County, Iowa. She received her early education at the Center Country School and continued her schooling at Everly High school, graduating with the class of 1930. Following her schooling, she taught school for one year at a country school in Westport Township. She was employed as a waitress at Hammer's Restaurant in Spencer for 16 years. Sally was employed as a salesperson at Cragins Ready To Wear for 12 years.

On Dec. 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Samuel Mervin Barman at the Lutheran Parsonage in Jackson, Minn. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading and music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel on April 9, 1983; and one sister, Mabel Petersen.

Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Laura Conner of Spencer; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
