Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Traughber, 88, of Spencer, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Paul Kaldahl will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6-7 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Mrs. Traughber passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Virginia May Johnson, the daughter of Clarence and Frieda Langhoff Johnson, was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Spencer. At an early age her parents moved to New Ulm, Minn., where she was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on April 10, 1922. When she was in the fourth grade her parents moved to Greenville, where she finished her schooling. Virginia was confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer on April 10, 1938, where she was a member the rest of her life.

On January 4, 1940, she married Alvin A. Traughber at the First English Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they made their home in Spencer, where Virginia was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Dorothy Markus.

She is survived by two children: Sharon Kay Traughber Torkelson of New Part Richey, Fla. and Larry Alvin Traughber and his wife, Betty of West Okoboji; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Johnson of St. Paul, Minn.; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
