Michael Anthony Molacek, 35, Graettinger, was charged with OWI third offense, driving while suspended and failure to have SR-22 insurance at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb.23, in the 4000 block of Highway Boulevard after a complaint was made with a Clay County deputy that an intoxicated person got into the driver's seat of a vehicle and began driving away from a place of business. He was transported to the Clay County Jail and held to appear before a magistrate.
Juan Fernando, 32, Spencer, was arrested on a warrant for contempt on an original charge of domestic assault and a warrant for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated first offense at 2:29 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Sarge's Bar parking lot. He was transported to the Clay County Jail and held to appear before a magistrate.
Janette Burke-Opheim, 49, Fort Dodge, was traveling westbound in a 1992 Dodge Caravan at approximately 5:18 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, in the 20000 block of Highway 18 when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy conditions. Burke-Ophem slid sideways entering the south ditch facing southeast and the vehicle then rolled approximately 1 1/4 times coming to rest on its passenger side facing east. Burke-Opheim complained of a headache and was transported to the Spencer Hospital by the Clay County Sheriff's Office. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,500.
