Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Ruthven.
Calvin died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at his home in Ruthven, at the age of 68.
Calvin August Long, son of Clarion and Martha (Schipull) Long, was born Oct. 10, 1941, in Algona. He attended school in Armstrong graduating in 1960.
On June 17, 1961, Calvin was united in marriage to Margaret Rezac. To this union six children were born. Calvin and Margaret farmed near Armstrong until 1963 when they moved to a farm northwest of Ruthven. Calvin raised cattle along with grain farming.
Calvin was also employed at Eatons for 27 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven.
On Aug. 19, 2005, Calvin was married to Marsha Hoffmeyer. They made their home in Ruthven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Margaret.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha of Ruthven; his children: Bryan Long and his wife, Deb of Ruthven, Bridget Muller and her husband, Jesus of Houston, Texas, Brenda Onstot and her husband, Don of Carlisle, Iowa, Barbara Haag and her husband, Pete of Sanborn, Iowa, Bruce Long and his wife, Michelle of Ruthven, and Billy Long and his wife, Stacie of Ruthven; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Larry Long of Blue Earth, Minn.; sisters: Charlotte Ewing and her husband, Gary of Estherville, Carol McDonald and her husband, Lenny of Storm Lake, Donna Long of Wallingford, Iowa, and Betty Hollund and her husband, Richard of Wells, Minn.; as well as many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
