Robert J. Hansen, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn., from heart failure.

Bob was born June 27, 1927, to John and Ruby Hansen in Spencer, Ia. He served in the Korean War from 1952-53. Bob and his family resided in Spencer, Ia, until 1966, when he was transferred to Owatonna, Minn. to continue his career with Hy-Line Hatcheries. He served as president of the Spencer Baseball Association in the 1960s and worked on the design of the existing baseball complex. Bob was an avid golfer, including a hole-in-one in 1984 at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course. He loved traveling with his wife, Donnus and playing cards with is grandchildren, family, friends. After retirement he and his wife moved to Arizona and then to Okoboji, Ia., in 1999.

He is survived by son, Bob (Ann) Hansen of Owatonna; daughter, Becky (Tim) Zimmerman of Owatonna; son, Ron Hansen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight grandchildren: Josh (Jenice) Anderson of Owatonna, Jennifer Anderson of Owatonna, Carrie Hansen of St. Paul, David Hansen of Hopkins, Toni, Trevor, Kellen and Brian Hansen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six great-grandchildren; sister Diane (Gene) Jacobsen of Lake Park, Ia.; sister-in-law, Chris Hansen of Apanche Junction, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Bill Beams of Spencer, I=a.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Donnus, who died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009; his parents, John and Ruby; stepmother, Zelma; infant brother, Donnie; brothers: Jack and Charlie; and sister, Rosemarey Beams.

Per his wishes his body has been donated to the Mayo Foundation to further student education. Memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park, Ia. at a later date. Condolence's may be sent to the family at 14 Knollwood Place, Owatonna, MN 55060. Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church of Arnolds Park, Iowa or to a charity of choice.
