Judith Ann Chapman
Judith Ann Chapman was born Nov. 3, 1935, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Roy and Ruth (James) McMahon. Judy moved with her family from Omaha to Algona at the age of three and graduated from Algona High School in 1953. She then attended Iowa State University in Ames and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition. Judy and Jim were married on Aug. 31, 1957, in Algona. Judy worked for Garrett Insurance Company in Eagle Grove prior to working for eight years at DM Insurance Services, now Pro Advantage Insurance in Algona, then at the main office of Druggists Mutual Insurance, now Pharmacists Mutual Insurance, retiring in 1997. Jim and Judy enjoyed wintering in Arizona since 1998.
Judy was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church as well as American Association of University Women, Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Judy died on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2009, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 74.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of Algona; son, Mike Chapman and close friend, Shannon of Spirit Lake, Ia.; son, Pat Chapman and Debbie of Asheville, N.C.; son, Tom and wife, Julie Chapman of West Des Moines, Ia.; six grandchildren: Melinda and husband, Chris, Chelsea, Taylor, Carrie and husband, Rusty, McMahon (Mac), and India; and three great-grandchildren: Haley Joy, Keegan and Ireland.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
