Funeral services for Helen A. Petersen were held Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Dale L. Hodges officiated the service.

Organist was David Hodges and soloist was Ryan Hessenius. Hymns included: "Home Where I Belong," "In the Garden," and "Beyond the Sunset."

Pallbearers were: Jeff Streuli, Trevor Streuli, Davd Roland, Ron Schmidt, Randy Johnson and Larry Rupert.

Interment took place at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.

Helen A. Petersen, the daughter of Charlie and Ida Miller Hagedorn, was born April 5, 1931, in Sioux City, Ia. As a young girl, Helen's family moved to Ruthven, Ia., and she received her early education in Gillett Grove, Ia.

On Sept. 5, 1969, Helen married Marvin Petersen in Spencer, Ia. Helen worked as a waitress at Charlie's, the North Y and for 12 years at Country Kitchen. She was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church and the Eagles Lodge in Spencer. Helen was fond of horses, collecting knick-knacks and spending time with her family. On Oct. 30, 2009, Helen passed away at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and her husband, Marvin on Nov. 12, 2000.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dennis Heins and his wife, Dianna of Spencer, Ia., Linda Essick of Spirit Lake, Ia., Connie Baker and her husband, Kent of Spencer, Ia., Debbie Kopel and her husband, Dan of Spencer, Ia., and Charles Petersen and his life long partner, Ron Schmidt of Sioux City, IA,; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were handled by Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
