Mary E. Grothaus, 90, of West Frankfort, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Herrin Hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Eldorado, Ill. to Charles Snedecor and Lena (Yates) Snedecor.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Grothaus of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, JoLynn Falline and husband, Brian of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren: Kayla Grothaus, Evan Grothaus, Christine Falline and Renee Falline; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Maxwell and Esther Bixler - both of West Frankfort; a brother, Charles and wife, Lillie Snedecor of Hobart, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Kenneth and infant sister, Louise; and by brothers: Earl and Phillip Snedecor; sister, Wilma Hale; and by a granddaughter, Beth Ensrud.
Mary attended Faith Assembly Fellowship Church in West Frankfort. She loved caring for others and was loved in return by her many family members and friends.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfurt with Rev. Gene Cowsert officiating. Burial took place in the Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation was on Saturday at the funeral home.
