Harold "Bud" Jenkins, 74, of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was born on Nov. 16, 1934, in Fulton, Mich., to Charles and Nina Jenkins.
Bud graduated from high school in Vicksburg, Mich., where he excelled in football and tennis. It was there where he met his high school sweetheart, Deborah Southworth and they were united in marriage in 1956.
Bud worked for Eaton Corporation in Marshall, Mich., where he began as an engineering draftsman and worked his way up to manufacturing engineer. In 1974, Bud and his family were transferred to Spencer, to help set up the Eaton plant in Spencer. He was promoted to manufacturing services manager and continued in that position until he retired in 2001.
Bud was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal church in Spirit Lake and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, hunting with his bird dogs and golfing. Bud truly loved to go trout fishing in eastern Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister.
Bud is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deborah Jenkins of Spencer; three children: Lauri de Temmerman and her husband, Steven of Oelwein, Scott Jenkins and his wife, Diane of Platte City, Mo., and Lisa Baxter and her husband, Daren of Spencer; a sister, Mary Ellen Connelly of Marshall, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake.
