Graveside services for Alma Lois Stienstra, 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Rev. Paul Hansen will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.

Following the graveside service, there will be a time for lunch and fellowship at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

Lois passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at the Spencer Hospital.

Lois Stienstra was born July 31, 1924 in Orange City, to Ed and Minnie (Jansma) DeJager. Her childhood years were spent in Orange City, where she received her education, graduating from the Orange City High School in 1941. She then graduated from Northwestern Junior College in Orange City in 1943. After graduation from Northwestern, she worked at an insurance agency in Orange City.

Lois married Ivan Stienstra on Sept. 7, 1949, in Orange City. They traveled extensively while Ivan was an examiner with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. They moved to Spencer in October of 1952, when Ivan went to work for Northwest Federal Savings and Loan

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Grace Muyskens and her husband, John; her brother, Pierce DeJager and his wife, Edna; her sister, Mildred Schoep and her husband, Vernon; and her granddaughter, Katie.

Alma is survived by her husband, Ivan; two sons: Jim and his wife, Char of Sioux Falls, S.D., and David and his wife, Kathy of Terre Haute, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements will be handled by Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.
