Alyssa Jo Vanderhoff, 15, of Marathon, passed away Aug. 27, 2009, in rural Marathon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sioux Central Community School gymnasium.
Interment will be at the Logan Township Cemetery in Gillett Grove.
Alyssa Jo Vanderhoff, the daughter of Brian and Patty (Lubinksi) Vanderhoff, was born in Spencer, on Sept. 30, 1993. Alyssa attended the South Clay Community School from kindergarten through fourth grade and has continued her education at Sioux Central Community Schools where she was currently a member of the sophomore class.
Throughout her years, Alyssa has enjoyed playing t-ball and softball. Alyssa has traveled extensively throughout Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska with the Extreme Bull Riding Tour. In school, she was a member of the FFA and two classes that she especially enjoyed were her agriculture and speech classes. Alyssa would annually show her horses and livestock at the Clay County Fair in Spencer. Two colts that she named and took special interest in were "Little John" and "Cinch."
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal great-grandparents.
Alyssa is survived by her parents, Brian and Patty of Marathon; her sisters: Elisabeth Merie Russell of Storm Lake, and Jennifer Ann Whipperling and husband, Casey of Newel; her paternal grandparents, Keith and Sharon Vanderhoff of Ruthven; and her maternal grandmother, Mary Rodgers of Webb.
The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
