Additional charges are pending after Spencer Police officers and Clay County deputies responded to an altercation near the campground area of East Leach Park.

Gabriel Hernandez and his wife, Amanda Hernandez, both 32 of Spencer, were both taken into custody following the disturbance call.

"Both parties, at this point in time are going to be charged with violation of a no-contact order," said Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson.

Officers were searching the area near the campground for a box cutter or utility knife. Lawson's understanding, early on in the investigation, suggests the item was used to slash the tires of Gabriel Hernandez's bicycle. It was not used as a weapon to physically harm another person.

Amanda Hernandez may face additional charges, depending on the statements given and the corresponding officers' reports.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Friday.
