Sally Warne, 92, of Storm Lake, passed away July 27, 2009, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Burial took place at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids.
Sally Arleen Daniels was born on April 11, 1917, the daughter of Glen and Louise (Claussen) Daniels in Cushing.
She attended high school in Humboldt, South Dakota graduating in 1934. Sally continued her education at Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she earned a Nursing Certificate. In 1970, she attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where she earned a Certificate in Nursing Home Administration.
On Feb. 2, 1936, Sally was united in marriage to Harry Warne in Jackson, Minn. This couple was blessed with one child, Sandra.
Sally belonged to the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. She helped start the first "Head Start" Program in Buena Vista County in the late 1960's. She was a Northwest Iowa District Representative for AARP. As a volunteer, Sally worked for the Spencer Municipal Hospital booth at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, for several seasons. Sally was the Administrator of the Carroll Manor in Carroll, from 1970 to 1980. In the late 1980's, she worked at the YMCA of the Rockies in Vail, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Warne; her parents, Glen and Louise Daniels; three older sisters: Margaret, Kathleen and Lois; and her older brother, Welton.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Don) Swanson and husband, Don of Storm Lake; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
