Opal Lucille Henkel Frerichs, 77, of Spencer Opal passed away on July 9, 2009 at the Palo Alto Hospital in Emmetsburg.

Graveside services were held Monday, July 13, 2009, at Riverside Cemetery in

Spencer.

Opal Lucille Henkel Frerichs, was born Nov. 30, 1931, to Ralph and Margaret Henkel in Spencer. She received her early education and graduated from the Spencer High School in 1949. Following her graduation, she moved to Le Mars to work where she met and married Richard Frerichs. To this union, four children were born: Richard, Joan, Terry and Tim.

Opal worked at the LeMars Hospital until she moved back to Spencer in 1977. She worked at Superior Manufacturing, Spencer Liquor Store, Longhouse Residence and Super Valu. After retiring she continued to provide in home care and also worked at Human Services in Clay County for a short time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Anna Marie, son Richard and great granddaughter, Jentry Anne.

She is survived by one daughter, Joan Cate and special friend Ernie Pooler of Ruthven, IA; two sons and their wives: Terry and Becky of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Tim and Marie of Alabama; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters: Regina Harleman of Spencer and Violet McClaire of California; other relatives and friends.
