Joyce Elaine Posthumus, the daughter of Harry and Edith (Van Meeveren) Jasper, was born April 5, 1932, on a farm near Granville. Her childhood years were spent in the Hospers area where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1949. After graduation, she worked at a wholesale grocery warehouse doing clerical duties.

On Aug. 9, 1951, Joyce married Marion Posthumus in Hospers. Following their marriage, they lived in Sheldon where she worked at Gamble's Hardware Store. In 1958, Marion's job took them to Sioux City, where they resided until 1961, when they moved to Spencer. Joyce worked at various jobs in the community, most notably, Modern Business and Beltone. Joyce also enjoyed spending time with Marion helping him with M&J Redwood Signs. They had a trailer at the Clay County Fair for 28 years and went many other places showing their signs. Joyce was an active member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer for many years before joining Grace United Methodist Church a few years ago. She also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Lorraine Joyce; an infant sister, Lorraine June; and a brother, Glenn Jasper.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Marion of Spencer; a daughter, Linda Curry of Howell, N.J.; a son, Jerrie Posthumus of Bourbonnais, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
