Children participating in this year's summer playground program at Sunset, Leach and Fairview parks joined together Friday morning at Stolley Park in Spencer to celebrate Nature Week. Joe Sherbon helped Cooper Fox, bottom, string his homemade fishing pole. Zoe Carlson, right, worked to lace red, white and blue noodles onto her macaroni necklace. Youth also did nature crafts, such as bark tracings, together. Photographs of more children participating in activities Friday at Stolley Park may be viewed on the Spencer Daily Reporter Web site at

During the morning's first activity, one boy in the kindergarten and first grade section was accidently pushed into Stolley Pond while he and his peers were fishing on the deck. Summer playground program counselor Jordan Lee, 16, dove in and pushed him toward fellow counselor Brad Murphy, who pulled him onto the deck. The boy, who could swim, was not hurt.
Pork.............not.
See how silly that sounds when you criticize all public funds that benefit communities as PORK?
