Arrests

Michael Andrew Sanderson, 46, Ruthven, was arrested on a warrant for violation probation out of Lyon County, Minnesota, on original charges of aggravated assault, family strong arm and third degree assault at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, at his residence by Clay County sheriffs. He was taken to the Clay County Jail where he was booked in to wait for an extradition hearing. The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.

Nathan Lee Rouse, 34, Ruthven, was charged with driving while barred and failure to refile SR insurance at 8:24 a.m. Monday, June 15, in the 2400 block of 300th Street, after a Clay County deputy made a traffic stop for a speeding violation. He was transported to the Clay County Jail and held to appear before a magistrate. Rouse was also given a speeding citation.

Preston Johnson, 20, Webb, was charged with OWI-first, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol under age 21 and open container at 2:27 a.m. Sunday, June 14, in the 2700 block of B-63 after a Clay County deputy stopped a vehicle on a speeding violation. He was transported to the Clay County Jail and held to appear before a magistrate.

Marc Wyatts, 36, Spencer was charged with OWI second offense at 11:19 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in the 10 block of East Fourth Street. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Richard Todd Wicks, 48, Spencer, was charged with OWI first offense at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at 11th Avenue West and West 18th Street. He was transported to the Spencer Municipal Hospital as a result of an accident.

Jason Simcox, 30, Spencer, was charged with public intoxication at 11:34 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Jacoba May Doll, 27, Milford, was charged with public intoxication at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, June 4, in the 1500 block of 12th Avenue West. Doll was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Glenn Muckey, 27, Spencer, was charged with public intoxication at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, June 13, in the 100 block of East Fourth Street. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Donnell Guider, 18, Spencer, was charged with interference with official acts at 8:27 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the 1100 block of Fourth Avenue East. Guider was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Timothy Nichols, 56, Spencer, was charged with theft fifth degree at 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, on Grand Avenue. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Alan Steelman, 32, Spencer, was charged with domestic assault at 2:34 a.m. Sunday, June 14, in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue East. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Benjoshua Donald Cornish, 31, Spencer, was charged with public intoxication at 1:52 a.m. Saturday, June 13, in the 300 block of South Grand Avenue. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Christopher Cotterman, 33, Spirit Lake, was charged on a warrant for probation revocation from Rapid City, S.D., at 1:41 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at 240th Avenue and Highway 18. Cotterman was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Dylan Schmidt, 19, Spencer, was charged on a warrant from Palo Alto County for failure to appear at 12:51 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Eighth Street and Grand Avenue. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Jeffrey Clark, 50, Okoboji, was charged on a warrant from Dickinson County for probation violation at 5:06 p.m. Sunday, June 14, in the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

Tyler Determan, 19, Spencer, Taylor Lloyd, 19, Spirit Lake, Randi Krieg, 20, Spencer, and Lindsey Hoger, 19, Spencer, were all charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age at 3:15 a.m. Monday, June 15, in the 300 block of West Second Street. They were all released on police citations.

Gary Stinson, 27, Spencer, was charged on a Clay County warrant for contempt of court at 9:44 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the 400 block of Grand Avenue. He was transported to the Spencer Police Department.

A 15-year-old female, Columbus, Neb., and a 16-year-old female, Spencer, were charged with theft fifth degree at 7:11 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Wal-Mart. They were released to their parents.

Two 17-year-old Spencer males were charged with theft fifth degree, possession of controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, in the 300 block of West Fourth Street. They were released to their parents.

A 17-year-old Spencer male was charged with possession of alcohol under legal age and possession of tobacco at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, in the 300 block of West Fifth Street. He was released to a parent.


Accidents

Timothy Joseph Korbitz, Spencer, was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the 2700 block of 350th Street, two miles northwest of Dickens, when witnesses said it appeared that the driver, who was driving in a group of other cycles, was passing others when he went off the road to the left. He then attempted to pull back onto to road but never gained control. The motorcycle then entered the north ditch on the right side of the road. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle as it entered the ditch. Korbitz received multiple injuries. Vehicle damage was estimated at $10,000. He was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

Roman Macias, Worthington, Minn., was traveling north on Highway 71 in a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe at approximately 3:04 p.m. Saturday, June 13, when Susan Norgaard, Carroll, driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 71 and then pulled into the path of Macias. Clara Alvarez, a passenger in Macias's vehicle and Norgaard were both transported to the Spencer Hospital where they were checked for injuries and released. Damage was estimated at $7,000 to the Tahoe and $10,000 to the Suburban. Norgaard was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign and Macias was charged with no driver's license and no insurance.

Scott Allen Waggner, Sutherland, driving at 2001 Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on Highway 10 about a half mile west of Peterson at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, when a deer ran out onto the highway. Waggner struck and killed the deer. Waggner was not injured. Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $1,500.
