Services for Ruth Lavonne Roskens, 82, were held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Rev. Russell Muilenburg officiated the service.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, June 5, 2009.

Ruth Lavonne Roskens, the daughter of Arthur and Stella (Lawson) Olson, was born Oct. 30, 1926 in Mountain Lake, Minn. She grew up in the Jackson, Minn., area and later Spencer, where she received her education.

Ruth married Evert Ed Roskens on Feb. 10, 1949 in Everly. Following their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where Evert operated his contracting company and Ruth took care of her family. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Ruth was also an active member of the VFW, the Eagle's, a club called the Kitchen Band and the "Bowling Association".

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Evert; four sisters: Dorothy Nielsen, Leota Felton, Lucille Karsnik and Bernice Olson; and three brothers: Don, Clifford and Ras Olson.

Ruth is survived by one son, Dennis Roskens of Hartley; three daughters: Diane and her husband, Dennis of Wahpeton, Dalene Hart of Des Moines, and Darla Dotson and her husband, Ron of Lorena, Texas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three sisters: Letha Wolcott and her husband, Don of Gillett Grove, Gwen Klinefelter of Peterson, and Winona Recher of Spirit Lake.

Arrangements were handled by Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
