Graveside services for Francis Joseph John Wekony, 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Rev. Dale L. Hodges will officiate the service.

Frank passed away on May 29, 2009 at his home in Spencer.

Francis "Frank" Joseph John Wekony, the son of Michael Joseph and Marie Burke Wekony, was born Feb. 3, 1935 in Chicago, Ill. His childhood years were spent in Chicago where he received his early education. Frank enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He then re-enlisted in 1962 and served until 1965,when he was honorably discharged as Specialist E 5 Artillery.

Frank married Janice Lou Muckler Taylor on Jan. 11, 1964, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer. Frank worked until his retirement in 2000.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice; and one daughter, Vicky Pettit.

Frank is survived by two sons: Billy Joe Wekony and his wife, Linda of Everly, and David Wekony of Spencer; two daughters: Janis Hinkey and her husband, Ross of Melvin, and Jennifer Wekony of Sioux Rapids; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.
