Interment will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.
Sally passed away at the Community Memorial Health in Hartley, on Monday, May 25, 2009.
Sally Virginia Muilenburg, the daughter of Ray and Iris (Summerbell) Herrig, was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Dickens. She attended and graduated from Gillett Grove High School and later attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and also Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Following her schooling, Sally taught school for eight years at Hull Public, Pocahontas, Clay Central and also at rural school in Sioux Township. In addition to teaching first through third grades, she also volunteered her time to give baton-twirling lessons.
Sally was united in marriage to Stanley Evan Muilenburg on June 4, 1955 in Sibley. Sally and Stan lived in Sheldon for six years and Fort Dodge for two years, before making Spencer their home for the past 46 years. Sally was a member of the First Christian Church in Spencer. Sally also spent 10 years volunteering at the Spencer Senior Center. Additionally, Sally did some volunteer work teaching English as a second language.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Douglas (Bud) and Edward (Skeet).
Sally is survived by her husband, Stan; three daughters: Stacy Bauer and her husband, Ted of Spencer, Sue Dykstra of Orlando, Fla., and Shelley Anderson and her husband, Mike of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Maurer and her husband, Bill of Spencer; and one brother, Bob Herrig and his wife, Judy of Anoka, Minn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Christian Church.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
