Memorial services for Barbara Jeanne Wilson, 90, of Windom, Minn., formerly of Royal and Spirit Lake, were held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Steve Norby officiated.

Interment took place at Willow Creek Cemetery in Royal.

Barbara passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Good Samaritan Home of Windom.

Barbara Jeanne Wilson, the daughter of Elgin and Marie (Kraeger) Lemon, was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Sibley. Her childhood years were spent in Sibley where she attended school.

On Dec. 28, 1935, Barbara was united in marriage to Gilbert Wilson in Sioux Falls, S.D. To this union was born a daughter, Patricia. During their marriage they made their home in the communities of Sibley, Royal, Clear Lake, and Spirit Lake. Barbara owned and operated a café in Royal and was a bookkeeper for a bakery in Clear Lake before the couple owned and operated the Lazy Lagoon Marina on West Lake Okoboji until retiring in 1975. She lived in Spirit Lake until moving to the Good Samaritan Home in Windom, Minn., four years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Wilson; one daughter, Patricia Menke; parents, Elgin and Marie Lemon; one grandson, James Bennett Mugge; and four brothers: Hobart, Seth, Richard and Elgin E. Lemon.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Bette Evans of Maine; one brother, Paul Lemon and wife, Jo of Texas; four grandchildren; one son-in-law, Bob Menke Sr.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
