Spencer trio faces drug charges

A traffic stop in Spencer by a Clay County deputy landed three Spencer men in the Clay County Jail on drug charges.

At approximately 2:54 p.m. Wednesday, a Clay County deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 10 block of W. Park St. in Spencer. Upon investigation, it was found that the front passenger, 25-year-old Abraham Brewer was wanted on a warrant out of Sioux County for possession of contraband in a correctional facility. Brewer was placed under arrest and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Upon further investigation, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found in the center counsel of the vehicle and the driver, Jordan Boyd, 19, Spencer, was placed under arrest.

The rear passenger, 25-year-old Zachary Lewis also was found to be in possession of 1 ounce of marijuana. He was placed under arrest and all three males were transported to the Clay County Jail without incident.

Boyd was charged with possession of a controlled substance -- marijuana, a serious misdemeanor, as well as simple misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree criminal mischief. Lewis was charged with possession of a controlled substance -- marijuana.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
