Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Robert Brown will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at St. Jacob's Cemetery in Graettinger immediately following the memorial services.
Frances Marie Munden, the daughter of James and Alice (Bradley) Mahan, was born August 6, 1931, in Palo Alto County. Her childhood years were spent in Graettinger, where she attended country school and later Graettinger Public schools.
Frances married George William Munden on November 27, 1950, in Graettinger, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Graettinger before moving to Royal in 1962. She enjoyed her work at The Prime Rib for 18 years and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her husband, George on July 7, 1983.
Left to cherish her memory are five sons: James and his wife, Kristy Munden of Grand Island, Neb., Roger Munden and John Munden both of Royal, Mark and his wife, Lois Munden of Lorimer, and Doug and is wife, Debbie Munden of Royal; four daughters and their husbands: Georgia and Jeff Kephart of Royal, Jennifer and Don Rettig of Hadar, Neb., Debra and Mark Foster of Spencer, and Robyn and Mark Rettig of Niobrara, Neb.; 9 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 8 siblings: Evelyn Peterson, Bernice Weber, Alice Jo Gibson, Lois Weber, James Mahan, Donnie Mahan, Leo Mahan and Dottie Mahan; other relatives and many friends.
