Funeral services for Mr. Henry Lietz, 92 of Laurens, formerly of Spencer, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009 at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Paul Kaldahl will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Following the graveside services, a lunch will be served at the church.

Mr. Lietz passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Spencer Hospital.

Henry William Lietz, the son of John and Anna (Bohlmeyer) Lietz, was born on Nov. 9, 1916 in Herring which is located in Sac County. He was raised there where he also attended grade school.

Henry was united in marriage to Mildred Greder in Odebolt on Dec. 29, 1937. He and Mildred lived on a farm near Webb until moving to Spencer in 1969. Henry worked as a custodian at the Gateway Shopping Center in north Spencer until 1993. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; two brothers: Wilbur and Edward; and two sisters: Evelyn and Alvina.

Henry is survived by his two daughters: Norma Jean Whalen and her husband, Ronald of Spencer, and Carol Janes and her husband, Ted of Albert City; his son; Norman Lietz and his wife, Deanna of Marathon; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Eldred Lietz of Lake View; and his three sisters: Amanda Saur and Dorothy Bloom -- both of Davenport, and Alma Trimmer of Wyoming.

Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
