None of the injuries were considered incapacitating, according to a traffic report from the Spencer Police Department. All four occupants were wearing their seat belts.
The investigation suggests 70-year-old Allen Lee Trojahn of Spencer was stopped and waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before making a left-hand turn onto St. Luke Drive. Megan BJ Sanderson of Dickens was westbound and did not see Trojahn's truck stopped in the roadway due to glare from the sun.
A witness told police Trojahn had his turning signal activated at the time of the crash. Trojahn told officers he tried to accelerate when he realized the oncoming car wasn't going to stop in time.
Trojahn and his passenger, 66-year-old Joyce Welcom Trojahn of Spencer were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Sanderson's passenger, 14-year-old Kyle Lawrence Toillion of Ruthven also was transported by ambulance. Sanderson arranged private transport to Spencer Hospital.
She was cited for failure to maintain control. Her 1999 Pontiac sustained $5,000 damage. Trojahn's 2003 Chevrolet truck sustained $2,000 damage.
