Margaret Bumann, 72, of Storm Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Methodist Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.

Services for Mrs. Bumann were held on Friday, March 27, in St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial was at Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Lorraine Metzger was born May 4, 1936, in Palmer to George and Hazel (Cobb) Metzger. She was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church in Palmer. She received her early education in the Palmer School and graduated from Palmer High School in 1954. She continued her education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, graduating with a degree in education. She started her teaching career in Battle Creek in January of 1956. In the fall of 1957 she accepted a teaching position in the second grade at East Elementary School in Storm Lake. She completed 30 years of teaching in the Storm Lake school system in 1999.

On June 17, 1962, Margaret was united in marriage to Lloyd Bumann at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake.

Margaret was a faithful and active member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carol Ann Metzger; her brothers-in-law: Richard Bumann, Luverne Bumann, John Kass, Ernie Meins, Dennis Johnson; and sister-in-law, Lois Kass.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years, Lloyd Bumann of Storm Lake; her son, Brian Bumann and wife Nancy of Spencer; stepgrandsons Zach Richards, Abe Brewer, Caleb Brewer and Nathan Brewer of Spencer; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Patch and husband Bob and their children, David and Nancy, of Sioux City; extended family and a host of friends.
