Wine Tasting event to benefit People for Pets

Friday, March 27, 2009
People for Pets, a non-profit animal shelter in Spencer, recently announced its Second Annual Wine Tasting Party at Bogenrief Studios in Spencer. The event has been set from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, April 26.

In addition to wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres, the fundraiser will feature live music performed by Lakes area vocalist, Tammy Hamlin. Coffee tasting will be provided by Extreme Caffeine, non-alcoholic punch will also be served, glass blowing demonstrations will be conducted and dog figurines and other gift items will be available for purchase.

The People for Pets shelter is often the last resort for many area animals, especially during these difficult economic times. Recently the Shelter was involved in finding homes for a litter of puppies whose owner didn't have time to take them to a shelter and as considering drowning them. Another dog was surrendered to the shelter after spending June through October in an outside kennel with one other smaller dog after the owner moved. The dogs were left caged for months without consistent food or water. Both have been adopted into new homes through People for Pets.

Advance tickets to the fundraiser are $17.50 per person or $20 each at the door.

For tickets, call People for Pets and leave a message at 580-2738 or call Sherry at 580-0148. Visit the website at www.peopleforpets.org.
