Spencer Sixth Grade Math Bee Team headed to state

On Saturday, March 21, the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency 8 held a Sixth Grade Math Bee in Pochantas. Twelve teams participated in the Math Bee. Participants in the bee completed 5 individual tests and one team test. The Spencer team, made up of Jordan Hansen, Adam Johnson, Cameron Geyer, and Jesse Woock, tied for first place with Algona Seton. Spencer lost the tiebreaker and brought home the second place trophy. The top two teams at the Area Bee qualified for state. The Spencer team will be participating in the State Math Bee in Fort Dodge on May 1. Adam Johnson received a trophy at the Area Bee for having the highest individual score of all the participating students.

Sacred Heart Math Team finishes third

The Sacred Heart Math Bee Team brought home the third place trophy and medals at the AEA 8 Math Bee held in Pocahontas. Team members include: (Left to right) Adam Labernik, John Greer, Brandt Roskens, Caleb Heisinger, Hannah Zulk, Claire Eagan, and Ethan Quail.
