Everon Honken
Funeral services for Mr. Everon Honken, 66 of Hartley, were held Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Rev. Dave Ericksen officiated the service.

Interment will took place at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Everon passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at home.

Everon Theodore Honken, the son of Wilbert and Elizabeth (Vierhout) Honken, was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Edna. His childhood years were spent in Edna where he attended Liberal No. 4 Country School and later attended and graduated from George High School.

On June 12, 1964, Everon was united in marriage to Marilyn Geerdes at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. Following their wedding the couple lived in Little Rock and Everon worked at a body shop in Rock Rapids. The couple then moved to Sibley. He worked at Thermogas in both Sibley and Hartley for a total of 27 years. Until his retirement in January of 2009 he was the owner/operator of Hartley Plumbing and Heating.

Everon was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley and also a volunteer fireman for the Sibley and Hartley communities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Shane Honken; and three nephews.

Everon is survived by his wife, Marilyn Honken of Hartley; two sons: Scott Honken and wife, Amy of Hartley, and Shawn Honken and wife, Dena; two grandsons; one sister, Alvina Borchers and husband, Darrell of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and one brother, Willie Honken and wife, Gladys of Mission, Texas.
