Rainfall through Tuesday was expected to lead to minor flooding across many area rivers, including the Little Sioux River near Spencer according to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The agency has a flood warning for the river early Monday. By late morning meteorologists decided to remove the advisory.
Forecasters also are looking ahead to a new hazard.
"A wintery mix of rain and snow could change to a period of accumulating wet snow from Thursday into Saturday across parts of southeast South Dakota to southwest Minnesota and Northwest Iowa," a statement from the National Weather Service said. "The track of the system remains uncertain at this time, however, this system carries the potential of crating a significant amount of snow across portions of the area."
