Jennifer Alina Markley, age 67, of Spencer, formerly of Spirit Lake, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009, at the Spencer Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Schuchert Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Schuchert Funeral Home.

Jennifer was born on July 9, 1941, in Wadena, Minn., to Wayne and Katy (Jussola) Blum, and graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Jerry Markley on April 2, 1961, in the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church. Jennifer worked as an office coordinator for UBC and Focal Image, both in Spirit Lake.

Jennifer was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebecca Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Katy; a daughter, Sheila K.; and a brother, Wayne Jr. "Butch."

Jennifer is survived by her husband, Jerry Markley of Spencer; two sons: Jerry Markley Jr., and wife, Karla of Ruthven, and Wayne Markley Sr., and his wife, Tracy, of Spencer; two brothers, Steve Blum, and his wife, Wendy, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Kenneth Blum Sr. of Spirit Lake; and four grandchildren.
