Funeral services for Evelyn Caquelin, 82, of Spencer, were held Monday, March 16, 2009 at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Paul Hansen officiated the service.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Evelyn passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer.

Evelyn Beatrice Caquelin, the daughter of Leonard & Alice (Thede) Petersen, was born Dec. 13, 1926 in Boone. Her childhood years were spent in Ft. Dodge, where she received her education at Ft. Dodge Elementary School. Her family later moved to Des Moines, where she continued her education, graduating from North High School. Evelyn continued her education at A.I.B. in Des Moines. Following her schooling, she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

Evelyn married Don Arthur Caquelin on Nov. 23, 1957 in Boone. Following their marriage they lived in Ames, where she worked as a secretary for Iowa State University. Her family moved to Spencer in 1967.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Tim and Phillip Caquelin; and a sister, Jean.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Don of Spencer; one son, Bob Caquelin of Carlisle; two daughters: Retta Caquelin of Boone, and Jayne and her husband, Tim Walters of Newark, Del.; a daughter-in-law, Sheree Sanderson and her husband, Brad of Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
