After Five Kiwanis, a non-profit organization aimed at improving the lives of local youth, made the contribution to Black Hills Cares in memory of Jim Anderson, former external affairs manager of western Iowa for Black Hills Energy.
Doug Wittrock, construction coordinator in Spencer, accepted the donation on behalf of the Black Hills Cares program.
"Jim believed in giving back to the community and was an active participant in company-wide volunteer programs, community clubs and organizations such as After Five Kiwanis," Wittrock said. "He was an avid voice for Black Hills Cares, and we are pleased to accept this donation in his honor."
Contributions made to the Black Hills Cares program are matched dollar-for-dollar by Black Hills Energy. Customers interested in making donations to Black Hills Cares can indicate on their monthly natural gas bill the amount they want to contribute. In Iowa, Black Hills Cares funds are distributed by Iowa Community Action Partnership.
