A Spencer man won $22,222 on the "Snow Birds" scratch game. Seth Skalicky claimed his prize Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Storm Lake.
He bought his winning ticket at Casey's on West 18th Street in Spencer.
Snow Birds is a $2 scratch game that has four different scenes. Players try to win a prize by matching any of "your numbers" to the "winning numbers" in the play area on each ticket. Players who find an "ice skate" symbol win the prize shown instantly. Instant prizes in the game range from $2 to $22,222. The overall odds of winning in the game are about 1 in 4.
Four prizes of $22,222 are still up for grabs in Snow Birds as well as 58 prizes of $200.
Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.2 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.1 billion for state programs.
