Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Joenks, 92 of Rossie, were held Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Revs. Tom and Wendy Van Tassell officiated the service.

Graveside services were held on Monday at Oakland Cemetery in Peterson.

Hilda passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at Spencer Hospital.

Hilda Dorothea Joenks, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Bobzien) Plagman, was born Sept. 5, 1916, on a farm south of Peterson. Her childhood years were spent near Peterson, where she received her education at Brooke School.

Hilda married Kenneth Clarence Joenks on March 1, 1933 in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in Peterson for 13 years before moving to Rossie in 1947, where they made their home for over 40 years. She was an active member of the Rossie United Church of Christ, where she was janitor for many years. When the Rossie church closed, she attended the United Methodist Church in Royal. She moved to Royal in 1999 to live with her daughter.

She was preceded in death y her parents; one brother, Lloyd Plagman; one sister, Ida Paulsen; and her husband, Kenneth.

Hilda is survived by her son, Ronnie Joenks and wife, Barbara of Rossie; a daughter, Judy Langholz and husband, Ronnyb Langholz of Royal; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Marietta.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
