Bishop names Olberding interim superintendent of Catholic Schools

The Most Reverend R. Walker Nickless, bishop of the Diocese of Sioux City recently announced the appointment of Spencer's Ron Olberding as interim superintendent of Catholic Schools.

Olberding has been principal at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Spencer since 1991, and principal at Pocahontas Elementary School since 2007. Prior to that, Olberding was the elementary principal at St. Mary's in Storm Lake for four years. He will remain in his positions at Sacred Heart and Pocahontas as he assumes the additional responsibility of interim superintendent.

Ron and his wife, Carol, have three children: Andrea, Matt, and Jay; and one 10-month old grandson named Owen.

The Diocese of Sioux City has 6,000 students in its eight high schools and 17 elementary schools covering 24 counties in Northwest Iowa.
