Tommy Jerome Jensen, of Mason City passed away Friday Jan. 30, 2009, at his home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City. Rev. Craig E. Steimel will officiate.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with full military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

Tom was born March 27, 1936, in Estherville, the son of Alvin and Marjorie (Nelson) Jensen. Tom was educated in the Jackson, Minn., and Sioux City schools. He was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps. on July 18, 1957 in Omaha, Neb., and was honorably discharged in September 1957, in San Diego, Calif.

He was employed at J.C. Penny and the HY-Line Hatchery at Spencer, before moving to Mason City, where he was employed at the Currie Company for 16 years, after which he retired.

Tom wrote two novels, Summer Green, and Miracle at Hooks Bend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a half sister, Maxine Thompson; and a half brother; Wayne Fronk.

Survivors include his children: Timothy Dale Jensen and wife, Tina of Sanborn, Marlin Lee Jensen of Rushmore, Minn., and Douglas David (Kari) Jensen and wife, Kari of Everly; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel of Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.
