Literacy comes to life for Spencer youth

Julie Kinsley, the promotions and marketing director at Southpark Mall in Spencer, delivered activity books on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, to pre-kindergarten children in the classrooms of Linda Gaston and Leanne Schenk at Child's Garden in Johnson Elementary School. While representatives from the local mall distributed books to first and third grade students in the Spencer school system nearly 18 months ago, they've given coloring activity books to students in all the preschools, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, Head Start and K-Kids in Spencer this year. The donation is courtesy a grant received from First Book and Random House.
