(Photo by Brian Craig) Lakes area firefighters extinguished an electrical fire in a maintenance building at Cutty's Monday afternoon.

A Monday afternoon fire has destroyed another structure in Dickinson County.

Spirit Lake Fire Chief Dave Kollasch said Spirit Lake firefighters got the call at about 1 p.m. Jan. 19 to respond to a fire at the maintenance building at Cutty's. The building is located on the northwest end of the property.

When the department arrived, the building was engulfed in flames.

"The fire was pretty much out by 3 p.m.," said Kollasch. "Firefighters left about 4:30 p.m.... The building was pretty much totaled."

There were no injuries reported.

The State Fire Marshall was on scene Tuesday morning and determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.

The origin of the fire was determined to be located in the center part of the building in an upper loft rafter area. The most probable cause for this fire was a electrical equipment malfunction in or near the main electrical beaker panel servicing the building which was located in the upper loft area. The fire quickly spread both east and west from this point across to wood rafters in the roof of the building. Damages could reach $200,000.

The Spirit Lake Fire Department was assisted by the Milford Fire Department, Lake Park Fire Department, Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue and the Superior Fire Department.
