Several young adults, teens charged in party bust

An anonymous complaint of an underage alcohol party in Dickens landed five males and one female in the Clay County Jail on drug and alcohol charges while 16 others were cited for underage alcohol possession.

At approximately 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, the Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to a complaint of an underage alcohol party at 306 Second St. in Dickens. Upon the deputies arrival, the officers observed approximately 15 to 20 cars in the driveway and parked on the street. Making contact with Chase Foote, 19, the responding officers discovered that there was indeed an underage alcohol party taking place.

As part of the initial investigation, deputies took names, and had 16 subjects take breath tests and fail.

Charged with underage alcohol possession were Andrew Hoogeterp, 18, Brandon Elliot, 18, Katie Frederick, 18, Karissa Lord, 18, Nate Brewer, 19, Jordan Boyd, 18, Robert Clopton, 19, Ross Wolthuis, 18, Jared Wolthuis, 19, Scott Riley, 19, and Kira Lord, 19 -- all of Spencer; and Britany LaCour, 20, Sibley. Three Juvenile females and one juvenile male were transported to the Clay County Jail and were cited into juvenile court for underage alcohol possession and were released to the custody of their parents.

Upon further investigation, deputies located a room where there was a strong odor of burned marijuana with several subjects in it. While in the room, deputies noticed a female, Emily Cornwell, 19, Graettinger, allegeldy attempting to hide something. When confronted, she turned over a marijuana pipe. Cornwell was placed under arrest and was later transported to the Clay County Jail. Deputies then conducted a further search of the room and found a small quantity of marijuana and a water bong used for smoking marijuana. Deputies then detained five adult males and transported them to the Clay County Jail for further questioning.

Upon arrival to the jail, deputies finished the investigation and it was found that the subjects in the room had allegedly been passing around the water bong with marijuana in it and were getting high.

Deputies then placed Michael Stricker, 20, and Caleb Brewer, 20 -- both of Spencer; Chris Wise, 21, West Bend; Benjamin Stix, 21, Spirit Lake; and Chase Foote, 19, Dickens under arrest. Cornwell and Stricker were both charged with underage alcohol possession, a simple misdemeanor, possession of a controlled -marijuana, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Wise and Stix were both charged with possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Caleb

Brewer was charged with possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and supplying alcohol to minors, a simple misdemeanor.

Foote was charged with supplying alcohol to minors.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are anticipated. The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department.
