EVERLY -- An Everly woman won the top prize of $30,000 playing the "Sudoku" scratch game.

Monica Schlichte bought her winning ticket at Quik Spot, 201 W. Fourth St. in Everly. She claimed her prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Storm Lake.

Sudoku is a $3 scratch game. Players win a prize by matching the same number in the 'solution grid' to the 'number to match' area. If a player's number matches, he/she wins the prize shown. The overall odds of winning in the game are about 1 in 3.56.

Six prizes of $30,000 are still up for grabs in Sudoku as well as 36 prizes of $2,400, more than 130 prizes of $600 and more than 465 prizes of $120.

Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.2 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.1 billion for state programs.
