Charles 'Chuck' Meyer
Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Meyer, 66 of Spencer will be held at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Scott Meier will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin after noon on Tuesday, with the family present from 6-8 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer.

Interment will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.

Charles passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2009 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Charles Dean Meyer, the son of Donald and Ruth Beatrice Johnson Meyer, was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Spencer. His childhood years were spent in rural Gillett Grove where he graduated from South Clay High School.

Following graduation, he became a self-employed carpenter and contractor in Des Moines for a short time. He then moved to Spencer where he continued his trade until 2005. He later worked for Super Valu and A & M Laundry.

Chuck married Susan Brown on June 6, 1981, in Lincoln, Neb. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle's No. 2273 in Spencer. Charles was on the policy board for Head Start and coached in the youth baseball league.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bea Meyer; his daughter, Shelly Ann; infant grandchild, Denny; two brothers: Samuel J. Meyer and Kendall Meyer; and one sister, Jolene (Jody) Ruth Clark.

Charles is survived by his wife, Susan of Spencer; his children: Brenda Wittrock of Lake Park, Dale Meyer and his wife, Aimee of Archer, Amy Meyer and her friend, Adam of Manson, and Lucas Meyer of Spencer; his nine grandchildren; sisters: Donna Bettencourt and husband, Bud of Fallon, Nevada, Nancy Leppert and husband, Larry of Dickens; and brothers: Randy Meyer of Johnston, and Donald Meyer and wife, Nancy of Hawk Point, Mo..

Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
