Funeral services for Mr. Kendall Meyer, 68 of Spencer will be held at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Paul Kaldahl will officiate the service.

Military services will be conducted at the church by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post No. 1 of Spencer.

No interment is planned.

Kendall passed away at home in Spencer on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008.

Kendall Lee Meyer, the son of Donald and Ruth "Beatrice" Johnson Meyer, was born July 18, 1940, in Spencer. His childhood years were spent in Gillett Grove.

He graduated from High School in Orange County Calif. He then joined the United States Navy and served for four years where he completed his training as a Communications Technician, class "A'. Upon his return to Iowa he then completed and earned his degree of Practitioner of Barber Science in 1962. He later achieved his Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Lakes Community College.

On Nov. 19, 1961, Kendall married Rosamary Jane Sassman. Following their marriage they lived in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota before settling in Spencer.

He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Kendall was a barber in Fenton, Spencer and Ayrshire. He then was the sales manager for Sears and Roebuck in Rice Lake, Wis., Northland Mobile Homes in Mankato, Minn., and Freeburg Mobile Homes before settling at Eaton Corporation where he worked for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bea Meyer; his grandparents, Sam and Tillie Meyer, and Emil and Ruth Johnson; one brother, Samuel J. Meyer, and one sister, Jolene (Jody) Ruth Clark.

Kendall is survived by his wife, Rosamary; his son, Kasen Meyer and wife, Lisa of Spencer; daughter, Kim Rittig and husband, Dirk of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters: Donna Bettencourt and husband, Bud of Fallon, Nevada, Nancy Leppert and husband, Larry of Dickens; brothers: Chuck Meyer and wife, Sue of Spencer, Randy Meyer of Johnston, and Donald Meyer and wife, Nancy of Hawk Point, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
