Start out the New Year knowing your personal health numbers and in 100 days see a better you. Spencer Hospital Community Health Services offers a Comprehensive Wellness Screening on Tuesday, Jan. 13 to start 2009 by focusing on your health.

The screening will be from 6-8 a.m. on Jan. 13 in the lower level of the hospital. The fee for the Comprehensive Screening is $65, however, for those who also sign up for the Live Healthy -- 100 Day Challenge, a discount rate of $45 will be charged.

"A Comprehensive Wellness Screening provides you the knowledge of what's happening in Your body," said Lois T. Stillman, MPH, CMS, RDLD, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention CDr. Knowing your personal health risks assists you in choosing the best options for you to attain results.

"A recent participant remarkably reduced his triglycerides from a very high risk level of 501 mg/dl to 280 mg/dl through simple nutrition and exercise choices," Stillman said.

Screening includes a laboratory blood screen for diabetes, anemia, immunity, heart, liver, and kidney function tests; body composition analysis, blood pressure; pulse check and for women a heel bone mineral density screening for $65 or discount $45.00. Optional tests for an additional fee include a colorectal cancer screening kit for $2.00, a TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) Booster for $40 and for men a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) for an additional fee of $20.

Spencer Hospital is teaming up to provide you an added bonus by offering a reduced rate of $45.00, if you also sign up for the Live Healthy - 100 Day Challenge! Stillman, the RD Health Coach exclaimed, "We want you to target your time and enjoy a fun time in 2009 by taking on the challenge."
