The Board of Directors of the Association of Iowa Fairs inducted Everett Amis of Greenville in Clay County into the Association of Iowa Fair's "Hall of Fame". The honor was presented to the Everett at the Awards Banquet during the Association's 2008 Conference and Annual Meeting, which was held Dec. 5-7 at the Airport Holiday Inn in Des Moines.

Inductees into the Association's Hall of Fame shall have made significant contribution to the fair industry in Iowa through their respective county fair or as an Associate member, and to the Association of Iowa Fairs organization, and shall have provided something of value in the fields of leadership and education to the fairs of Iowa.

Amis has been involved wit the Clay County Fair since he was a small boy. He was a 4-H member and he showed beef and hogs at the fair. The only time Amis did not attend the Clay County Fair was when he entered the service and served in the Korean War. He and his wife Verlie live on the family farm near Greenville, Iowa where he was born and raised.

In 1982, Amis was elected to the Clay County Fair Board of Directors, and has since served the board faithfully. He has served as a livestock superintendent, grounds committee, and executive committee and served as board president for several years.

"I have known Everett and Verlie for many years and can truthfully say that Everett is very deserving of this honor. He exemplifies what a true 'fair person' is. His timeless dedication to the Clay County Fair, great support of the Iowa State Fair and the Association of Iowa Fairs is something the AIF will be forever grateful for." stated Thomas Barnes, executive director of the Association of Iowa Fairs.

"The Board of Directors of the Association of Iowa Fairs would like to extend to its sincere appreciation to Everett Amis for his dedication to the fairs of Iowa." Barnes added. "His years of service to the fair industry in Iowa are very much appreciated by all our members. We all are proud to include Everett as a member of our Hall of Fame."

The Association of Iowa Fairs is the organizational body of the fair industry in Iowa. It has as its members the 106 county fairs of Iowa and the Iowa State Fair, and 130 plus associate members such as chambers, festivals, carnivals, entertainment agencies, festivals, concessionaires, special attractions and suppliers of the industry. Together, the members of the Association work together to promote and strengthen the fair industry in Iowa.
